ABOUT BLUE
LIGHT WEEKEND

RAISING AWARENESS OF OUR EMERGENCY & LIFESAVING  SERVICES

Blue Light Weekend was the idea of Steve Medcalf in 2022.

He wanted to raise awareness and money for local emergency, lifesaving and military veterans' services while the same time putting Withernsea on the map.

A small group of family and friends were

determined to realise his dream.

COLOUR RUN

Colour Run at Blue Light Weekend 2024

After only two years the famous Withernsea Colour Run is now a firm family favourite - a riot of colour and laughs for the 500+ who take part.

We will have more paint in 2025 - and a foam cannon !

WORLD MASCOT CHAMPIONSHIP

The inaugural World Mascot Championship in 2024 was a riotous success!

And with more than 30 mascots taking part in 2025, and in a new, more prestigious venue, you won't want to miss it!

AIR SHOW

Aerobatic planes at Blue Light Weekend 2024

The Tier 2 air show at Blue Light Weekend 2024 was arguably the biggest event Withernsea had ever seen, with around 25,000 people cramming the promenade over two days.

Can we beat that in 2025? You bet we can....

SEA EXERCISES

Blue Light Weekend 2024 sea exercise

Withernsea is all about the sea - the clue is in our name!

In 2024 "Operation Blue Oyster" gave an amazing exhibition of maritime rescue and exercises which firmly reminded us all how vital the RNLI and other services are to our community.

In memory of Steve

Withernsea's Blue Light Weekend was the idea of Steve Medcalf.

It was Steve's vision for Withernsea to host an annual high-profile, free, fun family event and really put the town on the map.

The wonderful Withernsea community were determined to make that happen.

Watch Craig Marriott's touching video which reminds us why Blue Light Weekend is important to so many Withernsea people
