We’re delighted to announce that Blue Light Weekend has been shortlisted for Remarkable Tourism Event of the Year at the 2026 Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards!
To be recognised alongside some of the region’s biggest events is a fantastic achievement and a tribute to our volunteers, sponsors, supporters and everyone who helps make the weekend possible.
The winners will be announced at Bridlington Spa in November – wish us luck! 💙

LIGHT WEEKEND
RAISING AWARENESS OF OUR EMERGENCY & LIFESAVING SERVICES, AND MILITARY VETERANS
Blue Light Weekend was the idea of Steve Medcalf in 2022.
He wanted to raise awareness and money for local emergency, lifesaving and military veterans' services while the same time putting Withernsea on the map.
A small group of family and friends were
determined to realise his dream.
