 Sea swims

Blue Light Weekend’s sea swims return in 2026, once again providing the traditional showcase opener to the weekend.

The event attracted more than 100 entrants in 2025 and is believed to be Britain’s biggest sea swimming event of its kind.

Swimmers can choose between the one-mile route, starting on the beach in front of Captain Williams and finishing near the RNLI station, or the half-mile route from Pier Towers.

Both courses are designed to run with the tide, helping swimmers make the most of the current.

Entrants must be aged 16 or over and wear either a wetsuit or tow buoy. Every swimmer who completes the course will receive a medal, with trophies awarded for first, second and third place.
