Sea displays 

Blue Light Weekend’s popular sea displays are a fixture of the event, bringing a hive of emergency service activity to the water at Withernsea.

 

In 2026, crowds watched crews and vessels from Withernsea RNLI, Bridlington RNLI, RNLI Humber, Hornsea Inshore Rescue, police boats and other agencies work together off the coast.

 

One of the most poignant moments of the weekend came as a flotilla moved slowly towards the RNLI station in memory of local man Mark Ratcliffe, who was hailed a hero for his actions in January when he tried to save Grace and Sarah Keeling.

 

As the boats gathered offshore, people lining the promenade joined in a minute’s applause – a moving tribute at the heart of the weekend.
