The Blue Light Weekend Air Show 2026 

Blue Light Weekend’s hugely popular air show returns with a new two-day format, spectacular aerobatics, historic aircraft and an exciting line-up of helicopters.
 

Flying begins at 2pm on Saturday with the AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers. Performing on top of two vintage Boeing Stearman biplanes, the wingwalkers will brave speeds of about 100mph while the aircraft complete loops, rolls and high wing-overs.
 

The Starlings Aerobatic Display Team will follow at 3pm. Former British aerobatic champions Tom Cassells and Michael Pickin will perform close-formation loops, rolls, stall turns and opposition manoeuvres, bringing Saturday’s flying to a close by about 3.30pm.
 

Sunday’s extended display opens at 2pm with Tom Cassells flying a Yorkshire-built Slingsby Firefly military trainer. The graceful aircraft is capable of loops, spins, stall turns, snap rolls and inverted flight.

At about 3.15pm, the unmistakable sight and sound of a Spitfire and Hurricane from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will return to the Withernsea coast.
 

The afternoon will then build towards a big finish from 4pm, when the Wingwalkers return before handing over to the Starlings. The two displays will briefly overlap, creating a spectacular conclusion to the weekend’s air show.
 

There will also be even more activity in the skies following the late addition of more helicopters.

A Vietnam-era Bell 47, two former French Army Gazelles, an R44 and R66, and Martyn Taylor's Jetranger will operate from Highfield throughout the weekend, flying together in formation along the promenade and offering passenger rides.
 

The helicopters will land on the Highfield Caravans field, giving visitors the chance to see a fascinating range of aircraft at close quarters before watching them take to the skies above Withernsea.
 

The flying programme has been spread across both days to give more visitors the opportunity to enjoy one of Blue Light Weekend’s most popular attractions.
 

All displays, appearances, timings and helicopter operations are subject to weather conditions, aircraft serviceability and operational requirements.
